JOSH SMITH

Josh Smith has said that he ‘thinks in paint’ and therefore his art could be seen as a vehicle for the testing of ideas and as a form of interrogation, e. g. about the creative process itself, what it means to be an artist, or the vagaries of everyday life. He is best known for his aggressive, gestural paintings of his own name. Smith held solo exhibitions at Bonner Kunstverein, Germany, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Rome, Italy Brant Foundation Art Study Center, Greenwich, Connecticut and Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna, Austria, among others.
