About
The young woman, whose head is adorned with an ivy wreath, is a nature spirit in the midst of his kingdom, nature,
of the water and the forest. The source of inspiration for the Gmünd-born painter Leutze was a legend from his Swabian homeland, »The underground lake near Urach« Themed motif of spurned love (see Irre 2017, p. 119). The nymph of the Urach spring thinks about the end of her love story.
Irre 2017, S. 119). Die Nymphe der Urachquelle bedenkt das Ende ihrer Liebesgeschichte.
