Prince Lír's development into a heroic figure is motivated by his affection for Lady Amalthea. On the one hand, this is countered by the unicorn's will to fight and, on the other hand, by the character of King Haggard (English for "emaciated" or "worn out"). He is bitter at filling his life with meaning and joy and replaces affection with power. The heraldic red of the room and exhibits such as the Milton shield demonstrate sovereign power, which on the one hand is displayed in an empowering way but on the other hand can also be broken. The damaged coat of arms stone from 1497/98 symbolizes the attempt by those in power to wipe out antagonistic forces. At the same time, however, the stone can also reveal one's own vulnerability and instability of power.


Prinz Lírs Entwicklung zu einer heroischen Figur ist von der Zuneigung zu Lady Amalthea motiviert. Dem steht zum einen der Kampfeswille des Einhorns entgegen, zum anderen der Charakter des Königs Haggard (englisch für »ausgezehrt« oder »verhärmt«). Dieser verbittert daran, sein Leben mit Sinn und Freude zu füllen und ersetzt Zuneigung durch Macht. Das heraldische Rot des Raums sowie Ausstellungsstücke wie der Milton-Schild demonstrieren herrscherliche Macht, die einerseits bestärkend zur Schau gestellt wird, andererseits jedoch auch gebrochen werden kann. Der beschädigte Wappenstein von 1497/98 symbolisiert den Versuch von Machthabern, antagonistische Kräfte auszulöschen. Gleichzeitig kann der Stein jedoch auch die eigene Verwundbarkeit und Instabilität von Macht aufzeigen.
