About
Soleil Noir originates in the wilderness of Sedona (Arizona), where Max Ernst lived from 1946 until his return to Paris in 1953. As a yellow, mostly black veiled disc the sun over a bare, deserted, in a landscape immersed in red, which appears unreal, mystical and dreamlike: the real and the surreal, the seen and the imaginary come together in it. There can be no question of a natural idyll.
