Grounded in her interest in architecture, Burin pitches exhibition as model and makes references to architectural drawings, illustration shorthand, and images reminiscent of the generic symbols used in travel advertising and signage. Merging anonymously designed imagery, Letraset, and typography, with authentic furniture and photography, Burin blurs the distinction between artist, archivist, and historian. Burin was recently the recipient of the Schloss Solitude fellowship and a 2014 Graham Foundation publication grant. Earlier awards include a Dedalus Master of Fine Arts Fellowship as well as residencies at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, Skowhegan, Yaddo and MacDowell.
