The exhibition LOCUS LAPIS has been a new joint presentation at German fashion brand ODEEH for Gallery Weekend Berlin 2018. The group show LOCUS LAPIS, curated by artist Leonhard Hurzlmeier, included marble and cardboard sculptures by Philipp Messner and Martin Spengler and a monumental painting by Hurzlmeier. Reflecting on the architectural legacy of the exhibition site, the historic Anton-von-Werner-house, the show opens up a dialog between Locus and Lapis.
LEONHARD HURZLMEIER (b. 1983 in Starnberg) has shown his paintings at the Los Angeles Metropolitan Medical Center, the Annual Exhibitions in Los Angeles, Autocenter, Berlin and Museum für Konkrete Kunst in Ingolstadt, amongst others.
PHILIPP MESSNER (b. 1975 in Bolzano) indicated his interest in shaping different materials with color with his performative and sculptural project Clouds, producing pigmented snow in front of Alte Pinakothek, Munich in 2016 and at Klarissenplatz at Neues Museum Nürnberg in 2017/2018.
MARTIN SPENGLER (b. 1974 in Cologne) exhibited in galleries, museums and public institutions worldwide. In 2018, his work was featured in the section New Positions at Art Cologne with Galerie Thomas Modern and shown at the booth of Galerie Tanit.
